Nollywood Mourns As Actress Allwell Ademola Is Laid to Rest in Lagos
The Nigerian film industry and fans across the country paid their final respects today to veteran Nollywood actress, producer, and director Allwell Ademola, whose death in late December 2025 sparked widespread sorrow within entertainment circles.
Ademola, 49, passed away on 27 December 2025 after suffering a heart attack at her Lagos residence. Her career spanned decades, beginning as a child actor on Nigerian television and growing into a celebrated role in both English and Yoruba films. Beyond acting, she produced, directed and contributed to theatre and music, including releasing an album with her band Allwell and Company in 2006.
The actress was buried on Friday, 9 January 2026, at Atan Cemetery in Yaba, Lagos State, following a candlelight procession and “Service of Songs” held on Thursday evening at LTV 8, Ikeja. Family, friends, colleagues and fans gathered in large numbers to honour her memory, many dressed in white shirts and jeans as requested by the burial committee.
During the vigil, Nollywood actor Rotimi Salami became emotional as he appealed for forgiveness on behalf of the late actress, asking anyone who felt wronged by Ademola to let go of hurt and celebrate her legacy instead. Salami also pledged support to upcoming artists, offering a day of free assistance to anyone who reached out for help in their film projects.
Ademola’s brother also addressed attendees, apologising to veteran actress Iyabo Ojo over a misunderstanding regarding earlier remarks he made online about the industry’s response to his sister’s death. He clarified that his comments were not directed at Ojo and praised the support she offered during his sister’s lifetime.
Online tributes continue to pour in, with a clip of the late actress from a Lege Miami matchmaking show trending as Nigerians reflect on her lively personality and lasting impact on the country’s entertainment sector.
As Nollywood continues to honour Allwell Ademola’s memory, many remember her not only for her artistic contributions but also for her vibrant spirit and influence on colleagues and audiences alike.
