Nollywood Mourns: Rising Star Seun Confirm Passes Away
Nollywood has been rocked by the loss of one of its brightest young talents, Seun Osundiya, popularly known as Seun Confirm, who passed away recently.
According to a heartfelt post on Instagram by fellow actress Jaiye Kuti, Seun died from complications linked to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a non-cancerous but potentially serious enlargement of the prostate.
Jaiye’s tribute expressed deep sorrow:
“Seun Confirm. Your death pains me greatly. High BPH. We shall meet at the feet of Jesus. Sleep well, and may God comfort your family.”
Actor Oluwaseyi Edun also shared his shock and grief, mentioning a recent conversation with Seun just weeks before his passing:
“Unquestionable God. Seun, you chatted with me on 27 July. You still wished me happy last Sunday of the month.”
A Multifaceted Talent
Seun Confirm was steadily rising through the ranks in the Yorùbá-language film industry. His acting credits include Osole, Eru Aye, Ajoke Apesin, and Mr Jerico.
Beyond acting, he served as a film producer and master of ceremonies (MC), roles that showcased his versatility and growing influence behind the scenes.
A Time of Collective Grief
Seun’s sudden death arrives just weeks after the passing of fellow Nollywood actress Omotola Odunsi, amplifying the sense of loss within the industry.
As news spread, tributes began pouring in online, with fans and colleagues remembering him for his charisma, humility, and creative passion.
The Broader Context: Health Awareness
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is commonly associated with older men. However, Seun’s case underscores that, in rare instances, it can strike younger individuals with severe consequences, especially if not diagnosed or monitored early.
His tragic passing has reignited conversations about the importance of men’s health awareness, particularly in a cultural context where such issues are often neglected.
In Memory
Though Seun Confirm’s journey in Nollywood was cut tragically short, his impact was undeniable. He exemplified the new generation of entertainers who balance on-screen talent with off-screen creativity. His death is not only a personal tragedy for loved ones, but also a palpable loss for Nigeria’s thriving cinema scene. May his soul rest in peace.
