Nollywood Producers Score Ongoing Earnings Through Circuits’ Performance-Based Model
Four Nollywood producers have received additional revenue payouts from Circuits, Africa’s largest virtual cinema and transactional Video-on-Demand (TVOD) platform, beyond their initial licensing fees and minimum guarantees.
Launched in December 2024, Circuits has grown rapidly in just eight months, registering millions of streams from audiences across more than 170 countries and expanding its content library to include Francophone African and Ugandan films.
A Game-Changing Revenue Structure
What sets Circuits apart is its innovative revenue-sharing model: producers earn ongoing returns as long as their films continue to generate income on the platform. This performance-linked model is uncommon in Africa’s current streaming landscape and highlights a shift toward fairer compensation for creators.
According to Imade Bibowei-Osuobeni, Circuits’ Chief Operating Officer:

Since June 2025, producers have been granted direct access to back-end data, empowering them to validate sales reports and analyze detailed analytics alongside receiving regular monthly summaries. This initiative enhances transparency and builds trust between creators and the platform.
