Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has submitted a ₦492.8 billion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly, tagging it the “Budget of Economic Consolidation.”

During his presentation to lawmakers in Akure on Monday, Aiyedatiwa described this budget as a natural progression from the previous year’s recovery efforts, shifting the focus from rebuilding to sustaining long‑term economic gains.

He said the proposal prioritizes infrastructure expansion, food security, human capital development, and fiscal prudence.

Aiyedatiwa noted that the capital-to-recurrent spending ratio underscores his administration’s commitment to developmental growth, with more funds channeled toward capital projects than routine spending.

Key Allocations:

  1. Infrastructure: ₦131.9 billion
  2. Public Finance: ₦89.6 billion
  3. Health: ₦69.6 billion
  4. Education: ₦63.8 billion

Amid the presentation, there were reports of internal strife in the Assembly. Recent developments include an alleged impeachment attempt against Speaker Olamide Oladiji, with 12 lawmakers reportedly passing a vote of no confidence over accusations of financial misconduct.

Oladiji, however, has dismissed the moves, calling them a “misplaced priority” and insisting that the House remains focused on its legislative duties, including reviewing the reordered 2025 Appropriation Act.

The governor has urged lawmakers to carefully consider the 2026 proposal, while the Speaker, for his part, has committed to giving it an accelerated review.
