Pastor Adeboye Predicts Improved Conditions, Return of Nigerians Abroad in 2026
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has delivered an optimistic outlook for Nigeria in 2026, forecasting a reduction in hunger and a reversal of the “Japa” phenomenon as part of his New Year prophecies.
During the church’s annual Cross-Over Service at the RCCG Camp on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Adeboye spoke to thousands of worshippers about what he described as “divine direction” for the year ahead. According to the cleric, economic conditions in Nigeria will improve, easing food scarcity that has affected many households.
In a striking portion of his prophecy, Adeboye predicted that many Nigerians who previously left the country in search of better opportunities abroad will begin to return home, a development he referred to as a “reversed Japa.” The term “Japa” has come to describe the emigration of young Nigerians seeking education, employment and a higher quality of life overseas.
Aside from domestic expectations, the RCCG leader also addressed international trends, suggesting that the likelihood of a major global conflict in 2026 would be lower than in the previous year. He further commented on weather patterns, predicting they would largely resemble those seen in 2025, while acknowledging the possibility of a few significant storms.
Adeboye’s message, shared with both church members and broader audiences through social media, reflects themes of hope and restoration as millions of Nigerians begin the New Year amid complex economic and social challenges.
