President Muhammadu Buhari has made a historic decision by appointing Dr. Mrs. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein as the first female Accountant General of the Federation (AGF). Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, revealed that the appointment officially took effect on May 18, 2023. The appointment of Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein as Nigeria’s first female AGF was also confirmed in a statement signed by Mohammed Ahmed, the President’s spokesperson. In his statement, he expressed President Buhari’s approval and emphasized the successful conduct of the selection process.
Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein was born on March 7, 1965, in Iperu Remo Ikenne Local Government Area (LGA) of Ogun State. Prior to her appointment, she served as the Director of Finance and Accounts in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF).
Dr. Madein’s academic qualifications are commendable, as she holds a Ph.D. in Management Finance from Walden University in Minnesota, USA. Her expertise and experience in finance make her a highly qualified individual to assume this vital role.
