Prince Harry has returned to the United Kingdom for a series of engagements, beginning with the WellChild Awards in London, where he celebrated the resilience of children living with serious health conditions.

The Duke of Sussex, who arrived from California on Monday morning, first visited Windsor to lay a wreath at St. George’s Chapel in memory of his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, on the third anniversary of her death.

At the awards ceremony, held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, Harry playfully joined children in activities, including a balloon swordfight, and spoke warmly with families. He also revealed he had been watching the Netflix series Hostage.

Harry has been a long-standing patron of WellChild, which is marking its 20th year of recognising children with complex medical needs and the families and carers who support them.

Upcoming Engagements

The prince’s UK visit includes several charity appearances. On Tuesday, he is scheduled to travel to Nottingham to announce a significant donation to a Children in Need project, while on Wednesday he will visit the Centre for Blast Injury Studies at Imperial College London.

His wife, Meghan, and their children have remained in California, sparking renewed speculation about whether Harry will reunite with his father, King Charles III, during the trip. The pair have not met in person since February 2024, shortly after the King’s cancer diagnosis.

Royal Family Remembers the Queen

The anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death also saw the Prince and Princess of Wales honour her memory at a Women’s Institute (WI) event in Sunningdale, Berkshire. The late Queen had been a WI member for 80 years.

Over tea and cakes, Prince William reflected on his grandmother’s legacy:

“Three years ago my grandmother passed away. I know she was a big part of the WI and she used to talk about it a lot, so this is a huge honour for me. I can’t quite believe it’s three years already.”

William also recalled the late monarch’s love of horse racing, saying she kept up with her horses on an iPad and joking that “she would have liked a few more winners.”

The event highlighted the Queen’s dedication to community service and offered a moment of reflection for the royal family, who are also mourning the recent death of the Duchess of Kent.
