Senator Ned Nwoko Says Regina Daniels’ Drug Test Must Be Examined in Court
Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has insisted that any drug or alcohol test result presented by his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, must be scrutinised and defended in court rather than accepted at face value.
The senator’s statement comes after Daniels shared a video on social media of herself undergoing a medical examination at a foreign facility and later receiving negative test results, which she said proved she had not taken “hard drugs.”
In a response issued by his communications team, Nwoko said a single negative result only shows temporary abstinence and does not equate to genuine sobriety or undo earlier professional findings of substance use. He described using one test to dismiss prior assessments as “misleading and disingenuous.”
According to the senator, earlier evaluations carried out by two independent and reputable centres in Nigeria and South Africa documented evidence of drug and alcohol use. These reports, he said, were professionally compiled, formally documented, and will be presented and defended in court, with the facilities that conducted the tests expected to testify.
Nwoko stressed that recovery and accountability are long-term processes requiring sustained honesty, continuous professional support and not something settled through social media announcements. He also criticised what he saw as attempts to lessen the seriousness of MDMA (commonly known as Molly), asserting that renaming a substance does not change its chemical effects, risks, or impact on judgment and stability.
The lawmaker added that any future tests, whether in Nigeria or abroad, will face court scrutiny and must be ready to be legally defended. The court could, he said, even appoint an independent laboratory to verify conflicting results.
The public dispute between the couple has simmered since October 2025, when Daniels shared a viral video accusing Nwoko of domestic violence. Nwoko has denied those claims and instead pointed to Daniels’ alleged struggles with substance use, a claim she has rejected and publicly contested.
