Popular Nigerian singer Spyro has expressed concern over what he describes as the growing “moral decadence” in society, attributing it in part to a decline in the quality and purpose of modern music.

During his appearance on the Adesope Live show, Spyro argued that, in earlier times, music carried powerful messages and provoked deep emotions, but now much of it has been reduced to “just vibes.”

He acknowledged that there’s nothing inherently wrong with songs that make people feel good, but he warned that the neglect of lyrical substance is eroding music’s “intrinsic value.”

According to Spyro, this shift is more than just an artistic decline; it has real societal consequences:

“A lot of the decadence that we have in the society today can be traced to the fact that music has lost its value … A lot of us are into the business for money, not to make impact.”

He urged fellow artists to return to creating music that not only entertains but also educates and uplifts, blending strong messages with good vibes.
