Terrorists Kidnap Boy and Six Teenage Girls in FCT Community

Armed assailants have abducted a 16-year-old boy and six teenage girls from a village in the Federal Capital Territory, raising fresh alarms over the worsening security situation in communities on Abuja’s outskirts.

According to a resident of the area, the attackers, reportedly carrying AK-47 rifles, raided two homes in the Gidan-Bijimi community, Kawu ward of Bwari Area Council, around 9:47 p.m. on Wednesday. The gunmen opened fire as they stormed the houses and seized the victims, sending the village into panic.

The six girls are said to be between 17 and 23 years old. One of the abductees is reportedly the cousin of a community resident. Efforts by local vigilantes to confront the kidnappers were unsuccessful, as the attackers escaped with superior firepower.

Residents said many households fled their homes in fear following the raid, and as of the latest update, there has been no contact from the kidnappers. Calls to the police spokesperson for confirmation have reportedly gone unanswered.

This incident comes as Nigeria continues to grapple with frequent kidnappings and raids, particularly in communities on the fringe of major cities — a troubling trend that underscores persistent gaps in local security coverage and urgent need for improved protection of vulnerable populations.
