Tinubu Distributes Hilux, Hummer Bus to States for 2027 Campaign, Sparks Concern Amid Rising Insecurity
The Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration has reportedly handed over a fleet of luxury vehicles, including brand‑new Toyota Hilux pickups, Toyota Land Cruisers, and Hummer buses, to state coordinators of a newly formed nationwide mobilisation structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The presentation took place in Abuja, where coordinators from across the country gathered to receive the vehicles and formal instructions for the forthcoming campaign. According to sources, the distribution is part of the launch of the group known as Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), which is to oversee political mobilisation and outreach efforts for the 2027 campaign cycle.
Under the RHA structure, each state is reportedly expected to contribute ₦1 billion toward a central campaign fund. The vehicle hand‑over was supervised by Hope Uzodimma, appointed by Tinubu as the “Renewed Hope Ambassador” and Director‑General of the mobilisation initiative.
The revelation has provoked concern among some observers, particularly given the country’s worsening security situation. Critics argue the deployment of expensive vehicles for political mobilisation, while insecurity, kidnappings, and violent attacks continue to escalate, signals a disconnect between government priorities and the lived realities of many Nigerians.
Some insiders quoted by the report expressed shock that such resources were being diverted to politics, rather than being used to reinforce security, protect citizens, or address urgent social challenges.
