After a five-year creative pause, Nigerian music sensation Tiwa Savage is gearing up to release her long-awaited fourth studio album, This One Is Personal. She officially announced the upcoming drop, set for this Friday, via her X account and encouraged fans to tune in as soon as it’s live.

In the same post, she invited her followers to share their questions about the album, its inspiration, the creative process, and the stories behind her songs, using the hashtag #ThisOneIsPersonal, with plans to handpick and respond to some of them.

An Intimate Tracklist That Speaks Her Truth

True to the album’s title, This One Is Personal carries a deeply personal vibe:

It features 16 tracks, most of which are solo performances by Tiwa. Notable collaborations include Skepta on “On the Low”, taves on “Addicted”, and James Fauntleroy on “Change”

Other intriguing song titles include I’m Done, Angel Dust, Holding It Down, 10%, Scared of Love, Pray No More, Will I Run Again?, For One Night, and the interlude This One Is Personal.

When asked why the album features only a few guest artists, Tiwa shared that she prioritized emotional connection over star-studded appeal. These collaborators were carefully selected because they “understood the vision” and helped enhance the message without diluting its intimacy.

She added that diving into personal experiences in her music was both raw and liberating, saying, “Some moments were so raw it felt like opening my diary, but turning that emotion into music was freeing.” Her hope? That listeners sense the love, honesty, and vulnerability she wove into every track.

From Thoughts of Retirement to a New Legacy

Back in December 2024, Tiwa hinted that this album might be her last studio project, seemingly driven by fatigue: “This might be my last studio album. I am tired, I don’t try.”

But during the fan Q&A, she revised that notion, revealing her passion hasn’t waned. Instead of stepping away, she’s laying groundwork for a music school, aiming to continue nurturing her musical legacy.

Balancing Motherhood and Stardom

Tiwa also opened up about juggling single motherhood with her demanding career. Her son, affectionately known as Jam Jam, has been the rock who understands and supports her hustle, even when she’s on the road.

Currently in Tokyo, she described their time together as “living life to the fullest” whenever her schedule allows them to be together.

In a heartfelt note during an interview with Zeze Millz, Tiwa shared that despite all her romantic relationships, her son is the only true love she’s ever experienced as a woman.
