Nigeria’s Civil Defence, Immigration, Prisons & Correctional Services Board (CDIPB) temporarily took down its online recruitment portal—which opened on July 14, 2025—due to overwhelming traffic and technical issues, preventing many applicants from completing their forms.

On July 17, the portal was suspended to allow the agency time to boost system performance to handle the high volume of applications.

The portal reopened on Monday, July 21, 2025, and applicants who had already begun the process were advised to return and finish their submissions.

Key points

The portal is used for recruitment into four paramilitary agencies:

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)

Nigerian Immigration Service

Federal Fire Service

Nigerian Correctional Service

The Board apologized for the disruption and reaffirmed its commitment to a fair, transparent, and efficient recruitment process.

Why it matters

With a surge of young Nigerians applying, the system overload risked delaying or blocking access. The brief shutdown aimed to stabilize the portal and enhance user experience before resuming operations.
