The National Bureau of Statistics reports that the average retail price of a litre of Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, was N671.86 in December 2023.

This is a 225.85% rise above the N206.19 per litre average price recorded in December 2022.

According to the data, the amount paid by Nigerian motorists in December 2023 increased by 3.53% from N648.93 in November 2023.

Furthermore, NBS gave a breakdown of state analysis, revealing that Kano State, followed by Lagos State and Adamawa State, paid the lowest petrol costs.

In December 2023, however, residents of Ogun, Taraba, and Adamawa paid the highest average prices, according to Punch.
