Breaking News: Ademola Adeleke Confirmed as Winner of Osun Governorship Election by Court of Appeal

On Friday, a three-member panel of justices at the Court of Appeal upheld Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the governorship election in Osun state, which took place on July 16, 2022.

The panel found fault with the election tribunal’s ruling that the 1st and 2nd respondents, Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress, had demonstrated that there was over-voting. According to the judges, Adeleke was duly elected as the governor of the state.

Earlier, in January, the Osun governorship election tribunal had ruled that Oyetola had been able to prove that there was over-voting in some of the polling units.

As a result, the majority judgment of the tribunal had ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to withdraw Adeleke’s certificate of return and issue a new one to Oyetola as the rightful governor of Osun.
