Donald Grey, born Eldred Owermann Tidbury on March 3, 1914, was a renowned South African actor who left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. Gray’s career covered both stage and cinema, gaining him international praise and admiration. His career in acting began in humble circumstances, but his talent and perseverance drove him to the pinnacle of achievement.

One of Gray’s most memorable performances was as the famous detective Mark Sabre in the British television series of the same name. Grey enthralled audiences with his depiction of the one-armed investigator in 156 episodes from 1955 to 1961, giving the character depth and charisma. Originally titled “Mark Saber, or The Vise” in the United States, the series showcased Gray’s remarkable talent and established him as a household name in the world of television.
