Tragedy struck in Jos, the Plateau State capital, today as a petrol tanker caught fire around Bauchi junction at approximately 1:30 PM on Thursday, April 27, 2023.
The accident resulted in the loss of six lives and the destruction of several properties. Many other victims sustained varying degrees of injuries.
According to eyewitness accounts, the tanker driver lost control and fell into a ditch by the roadside, triggering the inferno that claimed six lives and burnt a car, tricycle, and shops beyond recognition.
Unfortunately, as of the time of filing this report, personnel of the State Fire Service were not present at the scene of the accident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the deceased and those injured in this tragic incident.
