Spokesman of Northern Elders Forum Labels Muslim-Muslim Ticket as Deceptive

On June 7, 2023, Dr. Hakeem Baba, the spokesperson for the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), expressed his view that a Muslim-Muslim ticket is fraudulent. He made this statement during an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Yesterday, while discussing the zoning of the Senate Presidency by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dr. Baba Ahmed advocated for allowing the legislators to determine their own leader. He emphasized that the North Western region should be given the opportunity to produce the next Senate President, as their votes played a significant role in electing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to power.

Regarding the Muslim-Muslim ticket in Kaduna State, he questioned its value by highlighting the demolition of houses owned by Muslims. Dr. Baba Ahmed pointed out that a majority of the demolished structures belonged to Muslims, casting doubt on the significance of a Muslim-Muslim ticket. He referred to it as a fraudulent notion.

Furthermore, Dr. Baba Ahmed criticized politicians for exploiting religion as a political tool, poisoning the sanctity of faith. He argued that they have manipulated and misled the public by falsely claiming to represent specific groups. He called for greater awareness and vigilance to prevent the political process from being tainted by the injection of religious sentiments.
