Matawalle Is Ordered By The Court To Return Official Vehicles That Have Been Taken Away
The Federal High Court in Sokoto dismissed a complaint filed by former governor Bello Matawalle over the ownership of impounded state vehicles.
In June 2023, the Zamfara State Police Command raided Matawalle’s residences and confiscated his official cars in response to a court order.
According to the Zamfara State Governor’s Spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the Sokoto division of the Federal High Court denied Matawalle’s claims to ownership of the automobiles.
The statement further said that the former governor and his cabinet members took all official vehicles belonging to the state government, leaving the current administration without any cars for official usage.
