President Muhammadu Buhari has lauded Nigerians for displaying remarkable passion towards democracy through their choices during the Presidential, National Assembly, Governorship, and State Houses of Assembly elections.
Speaking at a farewell meeting with the outgoing US Ambassador, Mary Beth Leonard, the President noted that Nigeria’s democracy has truly matured, with citizens capable of deciding who leads them when given the chance of a free and fair election without external interference.
He also commended the Ambassador for the enormous achievements recorded in Nigeria-US relations and expressed his gratitude for her service. The Ambassador, in turn, expressed hope for continued cooperation between the two countries, including the removal of fuel subsidies.
