Shola Akinlade has Acquired the Danish Football Club Aarhus Fremad in Denmark

Shola Akinlade, the Nigerian software engineer and co-founder of Paystack, has expanded his investment portfolio into the European football space by purchasing Danish second division club Aarhus Fremad. Akinlade, who is based in the United States, acquired a 55% stake in the club, making him the majority owner with hopes of revamping the club.

Aarhus Fremad F.C is currently leading the Danish second division with a six-point lead and is on track for promotion to the top division at the end of the season.

This investment in the Danish football club is Akinlade’s latest venture in football after establishing Sporting Lagos F.C in Nigeria in 2022. Sporting Lagos is a rapidly growing private football club in Nigeria that currently plays in the Nigerian second division league, the Nigeria National League (NNL)
